The current record holder as the World’s oldest cat (as of January 30, 2012) is Pinky, who was born on October 31, 1989. She was diagnosed with cancer when she was 13, and as a result her left rear leg was amputated. So most of her life she has been an indoor cat. Unfortunately Pinky has passed away last November, at the age of 22.
Now we show you two other candidates for this title: Lucy and Courtney Cuddler.
Lucy’s owner, Bill Thomas appeared in 2011 with the amazing news that his cat is 39 year-old (which is equivalent of 172 human years). He inherited the cat from his wife’s godmother and an elderly aunt told him that Lucy was born in 1972 when she recognized the cat. Mr Thomas took Lucy to the vet who was amazed by the cat’s long life. The vet said she was very old but it was not possible to tell her exact age. Lucy is in good shape and she is very independent, her only serious health problem is that she has gone deaf.
The other candidate is Courtney Cuddler who was born in February 1980, according to her owner, Annie Kramer. Courtney came to Annie as a half-starved kitten, because his feline mom abandoned him. At that time, the vet estimated his age at approximately 4 weeks. He has recovered and this year he celebrated his 32nd birthday (on January 1, 2012). The process of sending vet records and other verification is ongoing.
