The latest odd dog news is that a Maryland jeweler’s golden retriever swallowed a $20,000 diamond. The 3-carat stone fell on the floor right next to Sollie, who ate it right away. The jeweler, Mr Kaufmann, had to examine Sollie’s stool for 3 days until the lost diamond resurfaced. Better watch out next time when Sollie’s around!

Rascal, a 13-year-old Chinese crested dog won the Del Mar Kiwanis Club’s Ugly Dog contest on Sunday. Rascal is no newcomer to the ugly dog scene: the pooch owned by actor Dane Andrew has already won several ugly dog contests. By winning these contests, Rascal continues a family tradition, since his mom, grandmother, and grandfather all used to hold the title of The World’s Ugliest Dog. Rascal’s grandfather, Chi Chi, is the Guinness World Record holder for winning the most ugly dog contests with 8 ugly dog triumphs. Rascal has also appeared in 5 horror movies so far.
