Greyhound owners are responsible that is why the dog was on the leash. Small dogs can be vicious. My greyhound was biten by a small dog. He was on lead the other dog was not. Thank goodness my dog is good natured and still happily greets all dogs. I feel sorry for Lolita and what she went through but all dogs need responsible owners.
Lolita was bitten because the greyhounds owners did not control their dog, on leash or not. They were supposedly involved with greyhound rescue groups and should have been well aware of their dog’s possible actions. Their nonsensical description of what happened indicates their fear that they will be held responsible and their dog might be penalized.
If he kept his dog on a leash (as it should be) he could have controlled the situation. Greyhounds have a tendency to look at small dogs as prey. His dog got bitten because it was offlead… Isn’t there a leash law in NYC?
It’s ridiculous! Gerry would NOT abuse an animal! Besides his dog, a little pug, about 15 lbs. on a good day can’t attack a Greyhound! Seriously! The people are just looking for their 15 minutes of fame and obviously have NO idea on the kind of person Gerry is and are looking for attention. I applaud Gerry for ignoring the reporters and the couple with no response…His dog was at the Vet getting worked on. Everyone needs to just let this go.
Good Luck Lolita and Gerry!
