Portrait of the artist as a dog

Abstract art is not just the privilege of human artists, dogs can do it too. A Maryland-based mutt by the name of Sam have sold some of his paintings to the excess of $1,700. Always busy with a paintbrush in his mouth, Sam has created 22 paintings so far, some of which are currently being exhibited at Denise Bibro’s.

While Sam is a relative newcomer to the canine art scene, Tillamook Cheddar, the world-renowned Jack Russell terrier has a history of twenty solo exhibitions and an official biography published.

Another emerging four-legged artist is Ziggy, the Pekingese, who’s probably the most eccentric and temperamental of them all.
