Uga VIII should be a robot bulldog, says PETA

The University of Georgia should consider using a robot dog instead of a live bulldog mascot according to PETA. In a reaction to the tragic and untimely death of the last bulldog mascot, Uga VII, the animal rights group sent a letter to the university’s athletic director, requesting that they “replace the mascot with an animatronic dog – or to rely solely on a costumed mascot – instead of using another real bulldog.”
PETA have even gone further, basically questioning if bulldogs should exist at all, since they are “prone to breathing difficulties, hip dysplasia, heart disorders, and other congenital ailments, and acquiring a dog from a breeder perpetuates the animal overpopulation crisis while causing another dog waiting in an animal shelter to be condemned to death.”
Let’s just hope that the folks at PETA are all genetically perfect, otherwise they may also find themselves replaced by robot activists soon.

PETA? Seriously, why the hell are we listening to these jag-bags? This is the same organization that equated KFC killing chickens to the Nazis gassing Jews!!! You can’t take these loons seriously.

Why don’t we consult ACORN on what they think instead? They probably have a more objective view point… snicker snicker. Sorry, I almost said that with a straight face.

Yale has a bulldog mascot also. . .Handsome Dan. I wonder how many others there are.

The only time I ever saw Dan or Uga they were panting pretty heavily standing out by the football field. I don’t feel they should be banned but I hope the handlers take extra care with them.

Peta’s concern is well meaning but they only alienate people even more with this kind of statement.

People are going to breed Bulldogs regardless of what they say unless breeding dogs is outlawed altogether (this could be a more long-term plan…) SO, why doesn’t UGA make a point of adopting a rescue Bulldog for this role and could also publicise and support breed rescue? (if they don’t already).

Bulldogs usually pant heavily anyway but yes hopefully they take all due care with them. In this case I don’t think being a mascot had any bearing on the dog’s death(?)
