According to a recent study, people who prefer dogs to cats tend to be more extroverted and sociable, while cat people show a tendency of being more neurotic but also creative and philosophical. Researchers at the University of Texas at Austin posted a questionnaire online, which was answered by about 4,500 people, who had to choose their dog or cat preference. The test measured their inclinations in the five areas encompassing most personality traits: openness, conscientiousness, extroversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism. The results showed that dog people scored significantly higher on extroversion, agreeableness and conscientiousness, while cat people scored higher on neuroticism and openness. Of course, these are generalizations, and a lot of people own both dogs and cats, but it still makes sense. Dogs need you to be around, play with them, and take them for a walk, while cats are a lot more independent. You can read more about this topic on CNN.com.
