The World’s smallest dogs

Lulu - The World's smallest dog?

Lulu - The World's smallest dog?

Lulu, a ten-week-old British chihuahua is only four inches (10.2 cm) long. She could be the World’s smallest dog by length, since the current Guinness record holder, a chihuahua called Heaven Sent Brandy is 6 inches (15.2 cm) long. We’ll have to see how much Lulu will grow before she reaches her final adult measures. Whether Lulu wants to challenge Brandy, we don’t know yet. But let’s see some more of the smallest dogs ever!

Before Brandy, the title of the World’s smallest dog by length was owned by a teacup yorkie called Tiny Pinnochio, who was 8 inches (20.3 cm) long.

Guinness also has a record for the World’s smallest dog by height, and that is held by a long coated chihuahua named Boo Boo.

Although the battle for the throne of tiny dogs has been traditionally fought between chihuahuas and yorkies, Scooter, a Maltese puppy from New Zealand was close to writing history when he prematurely died last year at only six-months old. The puppy’s height was only 3.1 inches (8 cm), but to be considered by Guinness for this record he should have been at least 1 years-old.

The smallest dog ever was a yorkie named Sylvia. When measured at the age of 2 in 1945, she was only 2.5 inches (6.4 cm) tall at the shoulder, and 3.5 inches (8.9 cm) from nose tip to tail.
